Lingrove markets Ekoa, a high-quality wood substitute derived from flax and resins. Ekoa can replace wood for most indoor uses; its production is also carbon-negative and relatively low-cost. Ekoa is primarily made of flax fiber, which is non-wood plant-based fibers, and resins creating an appearance like stained and finished wood. As such, Ekoa is a more sustainable and less costly material which is grown in 90 days compared to traditional wood that requires around 10 to 20 years before the wood is ready to be used. Moreover, when performance is considered, Ekoa has superior characteristics: wood-like finishes, higher strength than aerospace grade fiberglass, lower density than carbon fiber, moldable into complex curves unlike wood, and low carbon footprint. The company’s IP consists of patents on natural fiber reinforced panels and finishes without toxic additives.
